Vitebsk hosts international university dance festival

VITEBSK, 8 April (BelTA) – Students from four countries are competing at the 3rd international modern dance festival, Make a Step Forward, in Vitebsk, BelTA learnt from the Vitebsk Oblast Committee of the BRSM Youth Union.

The three-day dance forum has gathered the best dancers of 16 universities of Belarus, Russia, Ukraine and Moldova. Belarus is represented at the festival by Belarusian National Technical University, Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics, Belarusian State Agrarian Technical University, Belarusian State Agricultural Academy, Polotsk State University, Masherov Vitebsk State University, and other establishments of higher education.

“This year festival is rich in novelties. First of all, it has a competition program the first block of which will feature show-dance, krump, jazz-funk, hip-hop bands. The participants of the second block of the competition will amaze the audience not only with modern, jazz-modern and contemporary styles but also with one-act ballets narrating about love, friendship, passion, dance. Secondly, the forum will host master classes and creative meetings for the first time,” the BRSM Vitebsk Oblast Committee said.

Teacher of Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts, leading actor of the Belarusian State Youth Theater Dance Konstantin Mikhalenko, director, choreographer, ballet-master of the Modern Dance Theater Alexis Alexander Zenchenko, master of the Vaganova Ballet Academy Olga Labovkina will help unveil dance secrets.

The first non-stop dance competitions in Vitebsk will take place on 8 April. The winner will be announced on 9 April. The award ceremony and a gala concert are scheduled for 10 April.
