The plan to guide the operation of the Council of Ministers and the Presidium of the Council of Ministers of Belarus in H1 2017 has been adopted, BelTA learned from the website of the Belarusian government.

The decision is laid down by the Council of Ministers' executive order No. 1010 of 9 December 2016. In particular, sessions of the Council of Ministers will be held to review results of Belarus' social and economic development in 2016 and in January-March 2017.

Sessions of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers will be held to discuss the conceptual foundations for the social and economic development forecast for 2018 and for the period till 2020, directions of the budget and finance policy and the tax policy for 2018 and the medium-term financial program for 2018-2020.

Plans have been made to discuss the measures taken to complete the retooling of woodworking industry enterprises and stabilize their financial and economic state, measures taken to bolster the performance of cement industry and glass industry enterprises, measures to rehabilitate agribusiness enterprises, measures to guide investments in agribusiness and implement the 2016-2020 national agribusiness development program.

The Belarusian government is also expected to discuss the measures taken to develop the public catering system and bolster the quality of available services, measures taken by government agencies to provide the first jobs to vocational school graduates and university graduates.

Apart from that, participants of sessions of the Council of Ministers' Presidium will discuss the development of digital economy and information society, inland water transport and maritime transport, effectiveness of manufacturing and processing of Belarusian flax fiber.

Close attention will be paid to the organization of the work to accomplish territories of populated localities all over the country. Members of the government will discuss the national strategy on recycling solid municipal waste and secondary material resources for the period till 2035. Innovation-driven development of the country will also be discussed.

Among other things plans have been made for an out session of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers to discuss ways to bolster the competitive ability of regional economies, including by encouraging the development of small and medium businesses, the creation of new jobs, and the involvement of ineffectively used or unused state properties into the economic flow.

During one of the sessions the Belarusian Industry Minister is expected to deliver a report to highlight the performance of the enterprises run by the Ministry and efforts exercised to improve the quality of their merchandise.

A total of 26 items will be discussed during sessions of the Council of Ministers and the Presidium of the Council of Ministers of Belarus in H1 2017.
