Belarusian, Azerbaijani emergencies ministers discuss cooperation

Belarusian Emergencies Minister Vadim Sinyavsky met with Azerbaijani Minister of Emergency Situations Kamaladdin Heydarov in the safety education center of the Emergencies Ministry in Minsk, the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry told BelTA.

The parties discussed matters concerning cooperation across the entire range of professional activities. “I’d like to assure you that we will realize all the reached agreements on time,” Vadim Sinyavsky stressed.

Kamaladdin Heydarov also expressed confidence that this meeting will give a new impulse to future cooperation of the emergencies ministries and to cooperation of the two countries as they share the best practices in the field of dealing with emergencies.

 The Belarusian Emergencies Ministry noted that within the framework of the 14th session of the Belarus-Azerbaijan commission on trade and economic cooperation Ganja Automobile Plant, Minsk Automobile Plant, and the Belarusian enterprise Pozhsnab signed a trilateral agreement on starting the production of Belarusian fire-fighting vehicles in Azerbaijan. Apart from that, the Fire Safety and Emergencies Research Institute did a lot of work to improve combat garments and expand the model range.

 The parties also discussed cooperation in education. As many as 127 citizens of Azerbaijan are students at Civil Protection University of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry. Vadim Sinyavsky expressed readiness to continue this cooperation.

 “Our university uses innovative methods and approaches to the provision of education services as well as cutting-edge equipment,” he stressed.

 Kamaladdin Heydarov thanked the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry for organizing the event and also congratulated Vadim Sinyavsky on getting elected Chairman of the CIS Interstate Council for Natural and Man-Made Emergencies. He expressed confidence that this meeting would give a new impulse to future cooperation of the emergencies ministries and the two countries in sharing the best practices of dealing with emergencies.

 After discussing routine matters the parties signed a comprehensive action plan for 2025-2027 with a view to realizing the agreement on cooperation between the two ministries.

 In conclusion of the meeting the heads of the emergencies ministries expressed confidence in continuing active interaction in the entire spectrum of professional activities: the sharing of the best practices in the field of improving the systems designed to inform the general public about imminent emergencies, in monitoring and forecasting emergencies, in organization of joint training sessions and exercises for rescue units for the units to practice saving and providing first aid to victims.

The visit of the Azerbaijani minister of emergency situations has been organized as part of the efforts to realize the agreements reached by Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev. The Azerbaijani delegation is expected to visit the automobile manufacturer MAZ and the firefighting equipment manufacturer Pozhsnab today where prospects of cooperation in manufacturing firefighting and emergency response equipment will be discussed.
