Over 134,000 large families open family capital deposits in Belarus
As of 1 February 2024, a total of 134,703 large families have opened deposit accounts in Belarus under the family capital program, including 82,600 deposit accounts to the total amount of $826 million and 52,000 deposit accounts to the total amount of Br1.3 billion, BelTA has learned from the Belarusian Labor and Social Security Ministry’s press service.
As of 1 February, a total of 81,749 families applied for permission to use family capital ahead of schedule. Of them, 66,555 applied to use the money to improve housing conditions, 8,854 to receive healthcare services, 6,335 to pay for education and five to buy health products for disabled people.
The ministry granted permission to use family capital earlier to 79,338 applicants. Most of such applicants are from Brest Oblast (16,569). Then goes Vitebsk Oblast with 7,649 families, Gomel Oblast with 12,832, Grodno Oblast – 9,269, Minsk Oblast – 13,747, Mogilev Oblast – 8,075 and the city of Minsk – 11,197.
The Labor and Social Security Ministry noted that the family capital program applies to families raising three and more children. From 1 January till 31 December 2024 the family capital equals Br31,480.
