Belarusian tourism information center to open in Poland

Belarusian regional tourism information center is planed to open in Poland in 2008, BelTA learnt from head of tourism department of the Belarusian Sports and Tourism Ministry Victor Yankovenko. According to him, this will be the first tourism information center abroad. A whole network of such centers is planned to be set up in the future. The goal of such centers is the promotion of Belarusian tourism industry, providing information about traveling opportunities in Belarus, establishing business contacts between Belarusian and foreign tourism providers, Victor Yankovenko noted. Such centers are already operating in every Belarusian oblast. They will be set up in smaller towns as well. Unfortunately, very few people abroad know that Belarus is an interesting tourist destination, Victor Yankovenko said. In order to make a change, it is necessary to create a sufficient infrastructure, promote tourism in Belarus abroad, and enhance the commercial and informational support for the Belarusian tourism industry. That is what such tourism information centers are meant for.
