Companies of Germany, Poland and Russia show interest in Belarus’ experience of rye selection

MINSK, 19 July (BelTA) – The Agriculture Research Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus jointly with companies of Germany, Poland and Russia intend to implement a number of projects on rye selection and genetics, BelTA learned from the center. The Belarusian scientists discussed the terms of the cooperation with the foreign experts at the international symposium on rye selection and genetics that has been held in Minsk recently. The Belarusian side and representatives of the German selection company KWS Lochow GmbH have signed a contract on joint rye breeding. The Agriculture Research Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus also intends to cooperate with the selection companies Saaten Union (Germany), Danko (Poland), the Rudnitsky North-East Research Center and the Tatarstan Research Agricultural Center (Russia). The international symposium on rye selection and genetics was held in Minsk under the auspices of the European Association for Research on Plant Breeding (EUCARPIA). At the symposium Belarusian and foreign scientists presented more than 20 reports on rye selection.
