Competitive ability, recognition of Belarusian goods stems from quality
Quality is a reliable foundation for ensuring the competitive ability of the goods Belarus manufactures and for ensuring the recognition of these goods on international markets since over 50% of the goods made in the country are exported. Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Piotr Parkhomchik made the relevant statement during the ceremony held to award winners of the CIS Quality Excellence Award 2023, BelTA has learned.
It was the ninth contest on record. This year the winners are 22 enterprises from CIS states, including 11 laureates and 11 diploma winners. Nine Belarusian enterprises are also among them. Minsk Motor Plant, MTZ, Svetopribor, BelTIZ, Kobrin Butter and Cheese Factory, and Babushkina Krynka became laureates. OAO Keramika, the automobile trailers and bodies factory MAZ-Kupava, the Slonim meat-packing plant, the Konus enterprise of the Applied Science Center for Agriculture Mechanization of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus became diploma winners.
“It means a lot to us that these events – the 65th session of the Interstate Council for Standardization, Metrology, and Certification of the CIS states and the contest for the CIS Quality Excellence Award – take place in Belarus this year. The head of state has declared the year 2024 the Year of Quality for a reason. Quality is the most important priority in the economic policy of any state,” Piotr Parkhomchik noted. “For our country where over 50% of the output is exported, quality represents a reliable foundation for ensuring the competitive ability of the manufactured goods and for ensuring the recognition of these goods on international markets. The national brand Made in Belarus is recognized and in demand in over 160 countries these days.”
The deputy prime minister noted that as a man, who has dedicated most of his life to manufacturing sector jobs, he understands very well that it is never easy to earn a reputation as a leader and a reliable partner and it is even more difficult to keep this reputation. “It stems from daily work of the CEO and the entire team on improving the efficiency of manufacturing and improving the quality of services, on introducing innovations and new methods for management and promotion of their goods. And it also means that you have to be one step ahead of the others,” he remarked. “I’d like to thank employees of the winning companies for their hard work and perseverance, initiative and responsibility.”
As many as 184 organizations and enterprises from the CIS states have taken part in the contest since 2006. Organizers clarified that the practice of holding these contests seriously stimulates manufacturers in CIS states to create and support a quality image. The interest of manufacturers in this contest has been rising for the last few years. Its model and criteria are constantly improved. In particular, the work on introducing amendments actively proceeds on the platform of the Interstate Council for Standardization, Metrology, and Certification of the CIS states. This matter is on the agenda of the 65th session and will be considered tomorrow, 21 June.
