Ministry of Agriculture and Foodstuffs proposes to increase purchasing prices for milk and meat

The Belarusian Ministry of Agriculture and Foodstuffs has proposed to increase purchasing prices for milk by 25%, for beef and pork by 10% and for poultry for 7%, Minister of Agriculture and Foodstuffs Leonid Rusak noted during a session of the ministry on October 24. According to him, the relative resolution of the Council of Ministers on purchasing prices advance will be adopted in the near future. The retail prices will be increased as well but the prices for socially important dairy products will be boosted at the rate of the inflation index. For instance, milk, kefir and sour cream will go up no more than 5%. According to Leonid Rusak, the new purchasing prices for milk will allow dairy plants to compensate expenditures for its production. The minister also noted that the domestic market should not have shortage in dairy products because of their export. He also demanded to put the Minsk market of dairy products in order. For instance, at present the Minsk dairy plants are forbidden to export their products until the domestic market will be satisfied with this kind of products.
