Next meeting of Belarusian People's Congress to be held after presidential election
The next meeting of the Belarusian People's Congress is to be held after the presidential election, Belarusian President, Chairman of the Belarusian People's Congress Aleksandr Lukashenko said at the session of the Presidium of the Belarusian People's Congress on 19 November, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko recalled that Belarus' presidential election will be held on 26 January and spoke about the program that will be presented to voters. “Since we are more or less on the same page, the program of the incumbent president, which is being developed by all of us today, will be published for the general public in January or even December. And after the presidential election we will use this program as a blueprint to set detailed tasks for the next year and, perhaps, the next five-year period,” the head of state said.
At the end of the meeting, Head of the Belarus President Administration Dmitry Krutoi confirmed that the next meeting of the Belarusian People's Congress is most likely to be held after the presidential election: “The election campaign is underway now. We should not get distracted. Secondly, as the president said, an election program with key points will be prepared (and he is currently working on it).”
“After that the president will begin preparing for the Address that is traditionally delivered in spring. I will not name specific dates and months now, they have not been determined yet. And on the eve of the Belarusian People's Congress meeting, the Presidium will convene once again to compare notes and finally approve the agenda of the Belarusian People's Congress. It seems to me that it is an absolutely simple and transparent scheme,” added Dmitry Krutoi.
