As part of the republican campaign "Youth for Safety," employees of the Lepel District Department for Emergency Situations, together with activists of the Belarusian Youth Public Association of Rescuers and Firefighters, continue to provide patronage assistance to lonely and single elderly citizens.

Thus, a labour team of students from the Lepel Agricultural and Technical College, armed with household tools, assisted pensioners in tidying up their yards: they stacked firewood, removed rubbish and deadwood, and raked fallen leaves.

Children, thank you very much for visiting me and helping to tidy up the yard! It is wonderful that our youth do not remain indifferent and help the elderly. This assistance is truly necessary. Thank you for visiting, – shared one of the homeowners with sincere gratitude.

In addition to practical assistance, the emergency services employees and their young helpers reminded the pensioners of the importance of observing fire safety rules, handing out leaflets with useful tips.

Rescuers are confident that providing assistance to the elderly is an important aspect in the upbringing of the younger generation, teaching them not to remain indifferent to the needs of older people living nearby.
