In Belarus, this is also a festive date – Family Day. The head of the Civil Registry Office of the Lepel District Executive Committee, Elena Belskaya, shared interesting facts with journalists from the district newspaper. Rare names, birth statistics, parents' ages – all this in a thematic selection.

Since our country gained sovereignty, the most popular male name in the Lepel region has been Alexander, and the female name – Anastasia. Double names were not very popular, however, the Civil Registry Office registered the birth of a girl named Sofi Eseogene, and boys were given names such as Yan-Tomas, Mukhamed-Ziyad, and Mark-Antony.

According to statistics, globally, an average of 105 boys are born for every 100 girls. What about us? Since 1991, 2.6% more boys have been born than girls. The most children – eleven! – were born in 1994 to a 36-year-old resident of the village of Borovka, Lepel District.

The youngest mothers in Lepel became at the age of 13, and fathers – at 16 (such early parenthood happened extremely rarely, the last time – 20 years ago).

There were cases when men became fathers at 60, and the most "experienced" mother in 2022 was a 54-year-old resident of the district!

The average age of parents is gradually increasing: if in the 1990s-2000s, women most often became parents at 24 and men at 26; in 2010 – at 26 and 28 years old, respectively, then by 2024, the average age of mothers became 29 years old, and fathers – 32 years old.
