An analysis of the road traffic situation indicates that the main causes of fatalities are head-on collisions of vehicles, which are causally linked to exceeding speed limits and violating overtaking rules.

In this regard, on June 24, 2022, the State Automobile Inspectorate will conduct preventive road checks aimed at preventing and suppressing speed limit violations and overtaking rule infringements.

Liability for violations of clause 96 of the Traffic Regulations is provided for by Article 18.13, Part 9 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus and entails a penalty in the form of a fine ranging from 2 to 10 base units, with or without deprivation of the right to engage in certain activities for a period of 1 year.
