The traditional range of issues concerning housing and communal services, road conditions, disputes with neighbors, landscaping, and others was raised during the "direct line" with the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin. However, there was one pleasant distinction – the head of the region's communication with residents began and ended with words of gratitude.
The first call came from Vitebsk. A man noted significant changes in the city on the Daugava, which has become more beautiful and comfortable, and this, according to the caller to the "direct line," is the merit of the current team in the leadership of the region and the city.
– I am a person with an active life position. At one time, like you, Alexander Mikhailovich, I graduated from the Vitebsk Veterinary Academy. I am not indifferent to everything that happens in my hometown, which I love very much. It is evident that you also care about our common home. Good luck in your difficult work, – said the man.
Alexander Subbotin thanked for the high assessment of the authorities' work and stated the goal – to make the Vitebsk region the best region in Belarus.
A total of 24 inquiries were received during the "direct line" session. The majority came from Vitebsk. Specifically, residents of buildings at Frunze Street, 116 and 114, and Mira Street, 24, complained about leaks in their apartments. Due to dampness, mold had appeared on the walls. A man raising a child with a disability requested the installation of a ramp to enable him to take his son out in a wheelchair, while a mother of two young children living on Gagarin Street asked for a bench and a sandbox in the courtyard of her building. Residents of buildings at Lokomotivnaya Street, 5, and Pravdy Street, 66, reported issues with hot water supply.
– The water from our kitchen tap is almost boiling, while in the bathroom it is icy cold, – explains a woman residing on Pravdy Street. – We have contacted various authorities, but the water temperature has not improved.
The head of the region instructed the Chairman of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee, Gennady Sabynich, and the Head of the Main Department of Housing and Communal Services of the Regional Executive Committee, Yuri Dyadyolo, to take control of all these issues.
– The appeals voiced have once again highlighted our shortcomings. Much has been done in the Vitebsk region within the framework of the "Comfortable Housing and Favorable Environment" program, but
Residents of Orsha, Postavy, Senno, Horodok, Polotsk and Chashniki districts also approached the head of the region with various issues. All complaints will be studied, and people will receive answers. Some problems were resolved during the "direct line" session. For example, a resident of the agro-town of Lukoml in Chashniki district voiced the request of the local population not to base waste processing near their settlement. As it turned out, the local authorities had already abandoned this option. However, the second issue – to repair the road – is yet to be resolved.
Summing up the "direct line" session, Alexander Subbotin noted that residents of the regional center are more active and demanding, which is why they make more calls. In rural areas, people tend to rely more on themselves, although problems exist everywhere.
– But overall, they are all solvable. Perhaps not as quickly as one would like. There are also complex issues that require court proceedings. We cannot bypass the legislation. It is possible that at the local level, some people do not fully see the problem. For example, a house that requires urgent repair is placed in the middle of the queue. I believe this is why we hold "direct lines" and citizen receptions, to identify these problems and resolve them as quickly as possible. Furthermore, I try to listen to people not only on officially scheduled dates but also at other times, during my trips around the region, – emphasized the head of the region.
