On April 25, the traffic police will intensify accident prevention involving two-wheeled vehicles: a unified road safety day is being held across the country under the slogan "Let's ride into summer on a bicycle, motorcycle, and moped without tragedies!"

“As favourable weather has arrived, a large number of two-wheeled vehicle drivers have appeared on the streets. To avoid accidents, it is worth reminding about the basic requirements of the Traffic Regulations for these road users.”

Cycling is permitted on cycle paths, and in their absence, on the shoulder, pavement, or pedestrian path. At the same time, do not create obstacles for the safe movement of pedestrians.

The roadway should be crossed via a cycle crossing or cycle path, and in their absence, via a pedestrian crossing, at an intersection along the line of pavements or shoulders, again, without creating obstacles for pedestrian movement.

According to the Traffic Regulations, a cyclist is entitled not to dismount when crossing the roadway. However, as Alexander Kazak notes, when approaching an intersection with the roadway, it is necessary to reduce speed in advance and, having made sure that entering the road is safe, cross it at the speed of a walking pedestrian.

An important point: individuals under the age of 14 are prohibited from riding a bicycle on the road without the accompaniment of an adult. Riding is only permitted in pedestrian and residential zones, on pavements, cycle paths, and pedestrian paths.

As for motorcyclists, they must ride with dipped headlights on, using vehicles that have been registered and passed technical inspection in a timely manner. Mopeds are permitted to be ridden on the shoulder or the roadway no further than 1 metre from the right edge. Riding a motorcycle or moped on one wheel, or without holding the handlebars, is subject to a fine of 5 to 10 basic units.
