Annually in April-May, the problem of injuries among drivers and passengers of two-wheeled vehicles becomes more acute. This year, due to the early warming, motorcyclists took to the roads as early as March.
Since the beginning of the year, 2 traffic accidents involving motorcyclists have been registered in the Vitebsk region, in which 2 people were injured. One of the road users was driving a vehicle while intoxicated.
On April 4, in the Vitebsk region, in the town of Glubokoye, a driver born in 1991, operating a Honda CBR600 motorcycle, while driving along Yasnaya Street in Glubokoye, failed to account for the vehicle's characteristics when selecting speed, lost control, drove into the ditch to the left of the direction of travel, where he collided with a tree. As a result of the accident, the motorcyclist sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital.
At the same time, the problem of insufficient discipline among motorcyclists remains relevant, which, against the backdrop of an increase in the number of registered motorcycle transport in the republic, is often a contributing factor to traffic accidents.
In this regard, the State Automobile Inspectorate reminds:
- Participation in road traffic on a motorcycle is permitted from the age of 16, provided that a category "A" driving license is held. Driving a motorcycle without a license is punishable by a fine of 5 to 20 basic units.
- The motorcycle must be registered with the State Automobile Inspectorate and be technically sound. Driving a motorcycle not registered in the prescribed manner and not having passed the state technical inspection is punishable by a fine of up to 2 basic units.
- When operating a motorcycle, it is necessary to wear a fastened helmet and not carry passengers without one; move with the low beam headlights constantly switched on. Driving a motorcycle or carrying passengers without helmets or with unfastened helmets is punishable by a fine of up to 1 basic unit.
