In 2022, 390 road traffic accidents were registered in the Vitebsk region, resulting in 65 fatalities and 402 injuries.

The primary cause of tragedies and misfortunes on the road remains the human factor. Road users consciously violate the rules, paying for it with their health. Often, carelessness on the road carries a much higher price – human life!
It is unlikely that a driver getting behind the wheel drunk or speeding considers that they might end up in a traffic police report. And the number of innocent road users suffering due to others' fault is countless. The causes of all road misfortunes and accidents lie in the disregard for traffic regulations.

Dear motorists! Do not forget about increased safety measures during the cold season, choose a safe speed considering the road surface condition, increase the following distance and lateral clearance, avoid any sudden movements and manoeuvres. Remember that children under 12 years of age must be transported using child restraint systems, and all passengers must wear seat belts. And be very attentive when approaching pedestrian crossings.
Dear pedestrians! Do not ignore the simple rule: cross the roadway only at designated places, make sure that drivers see you and have stopped. It is also necessary to remember that a vehicle on a cold, wet surface sometimes cannot stop within a short distance due to technical limitations. When crossing the road, always monitor the traffic situation and ensure the safety of your actions. In the dark, when moving through unlit areas, be sure to make yourself visible with retro-reflective elements.
Many years of practice show that mutual respect, discipline of all road users, as well as tolerance towards each other are the key to road safety, which does not forgive mistakes!
