34 cybercrimes have been committed in Lepel district this year
Scammers continue to defraud citizens by posing as employees of OJSC "Besplat". Under the pretext of updating the intercom code, attackers inform that the new code will arrive via SMS and must be provided for system update, or they may offer the victim to install a new application for intercom management, or provide a link to a website requiring personal data entry.
Based on the work results for 8 months of 2025, the organizational and practical measures taken have allowed maintaining control over the operational situation in the district, ensuring public safety and law and order.
In January-August of this year, the operational situation in the Lepel district was characterized by a slight increase in the total number of registered crimes compared to the 8 months of 2024 (from 133 to 134).
The number of criminal offences committed increased: in public places – from 15 to 19; by previously convicted persons – from 29 to 34; while intoxicated – from 23 to 25; the increased number of crimes committed by minors remains static for a prolonged period – from 1 to 5.
In the area of criminal investigation, a decrease in registered crimes is noted – from 53 to 44, and the number of thefts has decreased – from 30 to 26.
During the current period, intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm, rape, extortion, robbery, carjacking, theft from clothing and hand luggage, and vehicle theft have not occurred.
It should be noted that registered cybercrimes have increased – from 24 to 34, with the largest number being fraud – 18 (2024 – 13), and cases of property theft through modification of computer equipment – 14 (2024 – 4).

Never disclose your personal data over the phone, even if the caller seems very convincing.
Warn elderly relatives and acquaintances about this scheme. They often fall victim to fraudsters due to their trusting nature.
Remember: genuine employees will never request confidential information over the phone.
