34 residents of Lepel received summons for compulsory military service, 3 for service in the reserve.

It has become a good tradition in our district to hold a Conscript Day twice a year for our young countrymen whom we are seeing off into the ranks of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus. On this day, the hall was filled not only with recruits but also with many distinguished guests.

In a solemn ceremony, 37 conscripts from the district were handed summonses for dispatch to military units and other military formations. Of these, 34 young men are being sent for compulsory military service, and 3 for service in the reserve.
Words of encouragement for fulfilling their military duty were given to the conscripts by the Military Commissar of Lepel and Ushachi Districts, Andrey Pukhalsky; the Chairman of the Lepel District Organisation of the Public Association "Republican Union of Veterans of the War in Afghanistan", Sergey Krivel; the representative of the Lepel District Organisation of the Public Association "Republican Union of Officers", Valery Leshchenok; representatives of the military units where our conscripts will perform their military service; and other guests.
"Service in the Armed Forces has always been prestigious. It is the duty of every self-respecting man to serve his Motherland. A conscript – this sounds proud, reliable, and responsible. You are not just young men, but future defenders, on whom mothers rely, and whom friends, relatives, and loved ones await. Today, our country is proud of you," noted Andrey Leonidovich.
"For a recruit, conscription into the army is a new milestone in life, a step into adulthood. Service in the Armed Forces is an important stage in every man's biography. There, you will not only undergo a good life school but also gain true friends, and become stronger physically and spiritually. Duty, honour, service to the Fatherland – these are the main components of motivation for military service," said Sergey Krivel.
No matter how difficult the service may be, soldiers must remember that there is a place on earth where they are awaited, remembered, and loved. This place is their parental home. Words of farewell to the conscripts were spoken by the father of one of them – Alexander Brutsky-Stempkovsky. It is difficult to convey how touching and moving the parents' speeches always sound, because no matter our age, for mum and dad we are always children.
The solemn part also included a concert programme, featuring artists from the district House of Culture. They set a special mood with soulful songs about theof the most sacred things a person has – about the Motherland, a soldier, a mother.
