Those who have decided to dedicate their lives to the profession of a rescuer are invited to the Civil Protection University (CPU) of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus in Minsk.

The University offers training in the specialty "Prevention and Elimination of Emergency Situations" (male students only) and in the specialty "Fire and Industrial Safety" (male and female students). The duration of study is 4 years. To be admitted, certificates of the Centralized Testing in Mathematics, Physics, and Russian (Belarusian) language are required. The duration of full-time study is 4 years. Prior to admission, all candidates must undergo a professional selection process, which includes: special checks, assessment of moral and business qualities, medical examination by a military medical board, and determination of the candidates' physical fitness level.

The advantage of studying at the CPU of the MES is that all cadets are provided with accommodation, meals, uniforms, state insurance, and medical care, as well as a monthly allowance (averaging around 380 Belarusian rubles). During their studies, cadets have the opportunity to learn practical driving and obtain a category "B" driver's license. Graduates receive the officer rank of "lieutenant of the internal service" and are guaranteed employment. Graduates are mostly assigned to their place of residence or nearby units.

Applicants who do not pass the competition for state-funded places can participate in the competition for full-time paid study.

The Specialized Lyceum at the Civil Protection University of the MES of Belarus in Gomel prepares students for admission to higher education institutions of the national security system of Belarus. Boys who have completed the 6th grade are admitted here. The duration of study is 5 years (from the 7th to the 11th grades) with round-the-clock accommodation.

A student of the Lyceum is fully supported by the state (uniforms, five meals a day, accommodation, medical care). The Lyceum has a unique educational, training, and material and technical base: academic and dormitory buildings, sports, fitness, and wrestling halls, and a 25-meter swimming pool. Graduates of the Lyceum, with marks of 7 points or higher in their certificate, are eligible to enter higher education institutions of the security forces without taking the Centralized Testing.

Entrance examinations to the Lyceum include mathematics, Russian (Belarusian) language, and physical education. Admission is competitive, based on the total score achieved. Those with legally stipulated benefits are admitted out of competition, provided they receive marks of no less than 4 points in the entrance examinations, in the order of listing.

For those who did not gain admission to the Ministry of Emergency Situations Higher Education Institutions (UHGZ), a good choice would be to enroll in the Polotsk State Chemical-Technological College for the specialty "Prevention and Elimination of Emergency Situations". The full-time study period on a state-funded basis is 2 years and 10 months. Young men aged 17 to 25 with a general secondary education certificate are accepted. Dormitory accommodation is provided to all who need it.

College graduates receive the vocational qualification of "rescuer-firefighter" and are employed in the bodies and units for emergency situations in positions of ordinary and junior commanding staff. Upon completion of the college, graduates are eligible to enter the UHGZ for a shortened part-time study program (study period of 3 years).
