30 September, Minsk /BELTA/. Belarusian lawyers will provide free consultations for low-income citizens on the occasion of the Day of the Elderly on 1 October, the press service of the Republican Bar Association (RBA) informed BELTA.
"Similar legal campaigns for providing free legal consultations by lawyers, as decided by the Republican Bar Association, are held in the country regularly," the press service noted. In particular, lawyers provide free consultations for low-income citizens on 15 March - Constitution Day of the Republic of Belarus, and on 26 June - the Day of the Establishment of the Bar of Belarus, as well as on 29 November - on the occasion of Lawyer's Day.
The RBA also added: "People are mainly interested in issues related to the calculation of service record for retirement, employment, social support, inheritance, and others. In general, lawyers explain the current legislation in the field of labor, civil, family, and housing law."
In addition, in accordance with Article 28 of the Law "On Advocacy and Legal Practice in the Republic of Belarus", legal assistance to Belarusian and foreign citizens, as well as stateless persons, is provided in certain cases at the expense of the bar associations. Such assistance is provided to plaintiffs in courts of first instance in cases related to labor relations and for the recovery of alimony; to veterans of the Great Patriotic War (for oral consultations on issues not related to entrepreneurial activities); when drafting applications for the appointment of pensions and benefits. Free oral consultations are also provided to persons with disabilities of Group I and II, which do not require familiarization with documents. Similar legal assistance may also be provided to minors if it concerns their interests.-0-
