On August 15, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Agitation sites in residential areas will become the main venue for meetings between candidates for deputies and voters in Vitebsk. The Vitebsk City Executive Committee has decided to designate places for holding mass events (outdoor gatherings, rallies, picketing) on a notification basis, organised by candidates for deputies of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus of the fifth convocation, and their proxies, as reported to BELTA correspondent by the Ideological Work Department of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee. In accordance with the Electoral Code of the Republic of Belarus, the Vitebsk City Executive Committee has designated 16 sites for holding pre-election mass events. All these locations are in close proximity to voters' places of residence and are well-known to the citizens. In addition to agitation sites in courtyards, the list includes sites in recreation parks and in front of Houses of Culture. The City Executive Committee has also designated premises for meetings between candidates for deputies of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the fifth convocation, their proxies, and voters, as well as for pre-election meetings organised by voters. There are about twenty such premises in the regional centre. These are mainly assembly halls and classrooms of educational institutions. Similar decisions have been made by all district and city executive committees of the Vitebsk region. In district centres, the most common places for outdoor mass events are designated as sites near shops, and in agro-towns - near Houses of Culture. Local executive authorities have also named places for the placement of agitation printed materials for the election of deputies of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the fifth convocation. Currently, the district election commissions are reviewing application packages and registering candidates for deputies. 61 citizens have expressed their desire to become candidates for deputies of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus of the fifth convocation from the 14 electoral districts located in the Vitebsk region. The registration procedure will last until August 23 inclusive. Pre-election campaigning in Belarus starts from the day of registration of candidates for deputies and will continue until September 22 inclusive.
