26 July, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. The agricultural workers of the Vitebsk region must improve the quality of crop harvesting. This requirement was voiced to the employees of the agro-industrial complex today at a meeting of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee by its Chairman, Alexander Kosinets, as reported by a BELTA correspondent. According to the governor, a good harvest has grown in the region this year. The main task of the rural workers is to collect it within optimal deadlines. In pursuit of this goal, as well as bonuses for achievements provided for the front-rank workers, many forget about quality. As a result, a significant portion of the harvest is lost for various reasons. "We must fight for every kilogram of grain, use all opportunities to harvest the entire crop from the fields without losses: use stalk lifters, properly adjust combine harvesters, and involve the population in lifting lodged crops," emphasized Alexander Kosinets, adding that phosphorus and potash fertilizers were applied for a yield of 40 centners per hectare, and this has been achieved this year. Therefore, the utmost attention to the quality of harvesting and the efficiency of equipment use will be paid in districts where this indicator is less than 35 centners per hectare. Alexander Kosinets also demanded to increase the pace of the harvesting campaign to 5% per day, as well as to involve additional tractor drivers from cities to carry out the harvesting in the shortest possible time. "Not a single unit of equipment should stand idle during this busy period," stressed the chairman of the regional executive committee. -0-
