As noted in the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Regional Executive Committee, eight districts have fully completed the task. Moreover, some have significantly exceeded the plan: Dokshytsy District – by 8.7%, Orsha District – by 5%. Cruciferous crops have been sown on 40.2 thousand hectares (77.5%). Here, Vitebsk (123.3%) and Tolochin (100.5%) districts are leading.
This year, Vitebsk region farmers will significantly increase the area under corn – to 120 thousand hectares, of which 30 thousand hectares are planned for grain production. The queen of the fields has so far occupied almost 36 thousand hectares, or 30%. Nine districts have a figure above the regional average. Verkhnedvinsk (61.8%) and Chashniki (53.4%) districts have completed more than half of the task.
Flax sowing has been completed on 13.2 thousand hectares (87.7%). Potato planting is in full swing. For the second bread, 1.9 thousand hectares have been allocated in the public sector of the Vitebsk region, with the majority (900 hectares) accounted for by the Tolochin Cannery. Last year, on similar areas, the leading Belarusian potato producer harvested 44.9 thousand tons of tubers with a yield of 498.3 centners per hectare.
