On August 23, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. Farmers in the Vitebsk region have completed the delivery of wheat and rye against the state order, the Agriculture and Food Committee of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent. In total, farms in the Vitebsk region are required to deliver 203 thousand tons of grain against the state order this year. As of August 23, 177.2 thousand tons have been delivered, or 87% of the planned amount. At the same time, the region's farmers primarily focused on fulfilling the food program. With a state order of 153 thousand tons of food grain, over 93% of the target has been supplied. Thus, as of today, the plans for the delivery of food rye (65.8 thousand tons of this crop have been supplied) and wheat (80 thousand tons) have been fulfilled. "This year, all rye was food-grade, without ergot. The wheat was also of higher quality, with gluten content in the grains of 23% and above, which corresponds to the third class. In 2011, it was mainly of the fourth class," specialists note. Procurement organizations in the alcohol industry have fulfilled the plan of 30 thousand tons for grain procurement for alcohol production. Currently, farms in the region are delivering oats. 1 thousand tons of grain have already been delivered, or 30%. Frequent rains have affected its quality, so farmers have to process the grain before delivery. Similar efforts are required for malting barley, which shows an increased protein content. In the near future, rural workers will begin harvesting buckwheat. It is planned to deliver 800 tons of this crop against the state order. Meanwhile, one of the main tasks for farmers is the shipment of feed grain to grain processing plants for the production of compound feeds to supply livestock complexes and poultry farms in the region during the off-season. As of August 23, 369.2 thousand hectares of grain and leguminous crops have been harvested in the Vitebsk region, or 75.6% of the sown areas. 1.162 million tons of grain have been threshed with an average yield of 31.5 centners per hectare. The Chashniki and Glubokoye districts, where 94.7% and 91.4% of the areas have been harvested, respectively, have practically completed the harvest. In addition, the sowing of winter rapeseed has been completed in all districts of the Vitebsk region. This crop will be grown on 55 thousand hectares.
