IT enthusiasts will hold a career guidance conference ProIT in Vitebsk on April 7 for schoolchildren and students, as well as their parents. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Yevgenia Pochepko, manager of the Regional Resource Centre for the Development of Additional Education for Adults in Vitebsk.
The "Education for the Future" Association, EPAM company, and the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Technologies of Vitebsk State University named after P. Masherov will demonstrate the opportunities that open up when obtaining IT specialities and working in the IT sector.
"Modern children and teenagers sometimes understand software better than their parents. Unfortunately, the interest of schoolchildren in computers and smartphones often becomes a bone of contention and a source of conflict between parents and children. But it will surely be resolved if children's energy is directed in the right direction, if their interests are shaped into quite real goals. At the conference, parents will be explained why the IT field as a future option for their child is worthy of approval," explained Yevgenia Pochepko.
IT is a field for the creative and inventive, noted the manager. It can accommodate not only people with a mathematical mindset but also those with artistic inclinations. Also attractive are decent wages and the opportunity to realise one's skills and talents in their home country. Finally, the number of resident companies of the Hi-Tech Park is growing every year – a centre that is not inferior to its European counterparts in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning development.
These and other arguments will be presented at the conference, which includes two formats of events: lectures where IT specialists will share the latest and most reliable information about IT professions with the young people, as well as master classes for future programmers, robot designers, testers, and 3D modellers.
Participation in the conference is free.
