A cosy recreational area for citizens is located at the intersection of Pavlov Street and Glinka Street. "There was already a certain foundation for the new square: old plantings, a football field, but all of it required renovation, and the site itself was unnamed," the administration noted.
Work on creating the square has been ongoing for a year. For instance, in spring, during the republican subbotnik (volunteer work day), trees were planted here. The territory was landscaped with the assistance of enterprises and organisations of the district. The result is new benches, lighting, modern bicycle parking facilities, and a good sports ground with play elements and a renovated football field. The walking paths have been put in proper order. The nearby bus stop has also been replaced. "A huge amount of work has been done, and the appearance of the site before and after is absolutely incomparable," the administration emphasised.
The grand opening of the square will take place on 12 October. All citizens are invited to the celebration, as well as representatives of enterprises whose assistance has made it possible to create another wonderful recreational spot in the city. Interactive zones of educational institutions of Pervomaisky District and the Belarusian Republican Youth Union (BRSM) will be open for the event participants, and product tasting will be organised.
The landscaping of squares is an annual good tradition of Pervomaisky District. For example, last year the School Square opposite Secondary School No. 23 was renovated, and in 2015, the Proletarsky Square. The choice of the current site (located on Pavlov Street) and its name, Academic, are due to the declaration of 2017 as the Year of Science.
