This point of view was expressed today at a meeting of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee by its Chairman, Alexander Kosinets. Ideological work in work collectives became the main topic of the meeting, reports a BELTA correspondent. Ideology plays an important role in shaping the image of power and public opinion, which is why the work of the ideological vertical is so significant, emphasized the chairman of the regional executive committee. More than 8,000 enterprises and organizations of various forms of ownership operate in the region. 1.1 thousand people work in the ideological sphere, of which 950 people are in enterprises, organizations, and educational institutions. The solution of socio-economic tasks facing work collectives largely depends on their activities. "In order to solve the tasks set, ideologists must reach every person, know what concerns people," he stressed. The chairman of the regional executive committee considers it unacceptable when information and propaganda groups go to work collectives and limit themselves to giving lectures or reading newspaper articles about the situation in the economic and social spheres. "Information and propaganda groups must react quickly and solve pressing problems of people voiced at these meetings," the governor emphasized. Alexander Kosinets considers public organizations – trade unions, BRSM, veteran and women's organizations – to be the support of ideological work. At the same time, the activities of trade unions and the youth organization are criticized by the chairman of the regional executive committee. For example, at enterprises such as "Vityaz" and "KIM", out of 2,000 young people, only 2% are members of the BRSM. Alexander Kosinets believes that youth leaders should more actively defend the interests of youth in work collectives. Veterans of labor should not be ignored either. Mass media are assigned an important role in ideological work. According to the chairman of the regional executive committee, many of them lack constructive critical materials. "By silencing a problem, we give others a reason to talk about it. Ideology is a subtle tool of management that must be used correctly," Alexander Kosinets stressed. -0-
