The "Safe New Year" campaign will start on December 4 in Belarus, BELTA was informed by the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
From the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) employees, one can learn how to safely decorate a New Year tree, what to do to avoid ending up in hospital due to firecrackers or fireworks, why one should not play on the ice, how not to freeze in severe frost, and what to do if an emergency situation has occurred. "All of this will be explained not only by people in uniform, but also by children from the Belarusian Youth Public Association of Rescuers and Firefighters," the MES noted. "The 'Safe New Year' campaign traditionally includes bright and colourful contests, entertainment programmes, and mass events. The campaign will be equally interesting for both the younger generation and adults."
The event will be held in four stages. The first stage will last from December 4 to 12. Rescuers will visit sanatoria, health resorts, preventoria, rest homes, boarding houses, veteran homes, and social service centres. During the second stage, from December 13 to 20, safety training will be conducted in general education institutions, boarding schools, extracurricular activity institutions, family-type homes, and families in a socially dangerous situation. During the third part of the campaign, from December 21 to 26, MES employees will remind about the safe use of fireworks at points of sale of pyrotechnics, and will hold discussions at ice rinks and in children's healthcare facilities. The final stage will take place on December 27 and 28 in open spaces, large shopping centres, markets, and children's entertainment centres.
