Events of the republican campaign "Clean Forest" in the Vitebsk region will be held on 314 sites, the Vitebsk State Production Forestry Association informed a BELTA correspondent.

It is planned that about 6,000 people will participate: forestry workers, employees of enterprises and organizations, students, and about 1,000 schoolchildren. Each of the children will receive a small souvenir, and the representatives of the most active school will be awarded a gift certificate for a New Year tree, which will be installed on the eve of the winter holidays in the educational institution.

The scope of work has already been determined. Volunteers will have to clear 52 km of roadside strips and territories adjacent to settlements from garbage and clutter, improve 43 recreation areas and 38 military burial sites, and plant 220,000 trees on 147.7 hectares. For example, employees of the Disna forestry enterprise plan to tidy up a mass grave located on their territory, where civilians killed during the war are buried. Representatives of the Verkhnedvinsk forestry enterprise will take care of the memorial complex for victims of fascism, liberator soldiers, and fellow countrymen. The settlement of Kopys will be the focus of attention of the residents of the Orsha district participating in the campaign.

The "Clean Forest" campaign has been held on the initiative of the Ministry of Forestry since 2010. Its goal is to draw public attention to the need for careful attitude towards the forest.
