The "Every Person Matters" campaign for homeless people will start in Vitebsk on December 20, the Vitebsk regional organization of the Belarusian Red Cross Society (BRCS) informed a BELTA correspondent. The venue for the campaign will be the Centre for Temporary (Night) Accommodation of Persons without a Fixed Abode. Currently, there are 15 people staying there. Each of them will have the opportunity during the day to undergo express fluorography, be examined by specialists from the regional dermatovenerological dispensary (they will work on-site), and also receive a hygiene kit, food products, and hot tea from activists of the regional BRCS organization. Representatives of the migration and citizenship service will assist in processing necessary documents, and the social service will help find suitable employment. In the following days, throughout the cold period, volunteers and activists of the organization will continue the campaign on a targeted basis. In particular, food products will be distributed to persons without a fixed abode in their places of overnight stay, and other assistance will be provided. Currently, there are about 20 citizens of this category in the regional centre, reported Vladimir Pronko, Deputy Head of the Public Order and Prevention Department of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, noting that a year ago their number was several times higher. The decrease is due to extensive preventive work: monthly, police officers conducted targeted raids to identify persons without a fixed abode in the regional centre and provide them with assistance in employment, placement in social institutions, and restoration of documents.-0-
