The "Lily of Friendship" event will be the central cultural event in Novopolotsk in 2018. This was announced today to journalists by the Chairman of the Novopolotsk City Executive Committee, Dmitry Demidov, reports BELTA correspondent.
Today, Novopolotsk received the baton of the Cultural Capital of Belarus from Babruisk. Before the start of the solemn ceremony, journalists asked the head of the city about the planned events and whether there would be new projects. "The granting of the Cultural Capital status coincided with the city's anniversary – Novopolotsk will celebrate its 60th anniversary. We will try to combine these events as much as possible. The central event of this year will be the 'Lily of Friendship' series of events. The event will be held by our ensembles in cooperation with twin cities. We plan to maximize the use of international cooperation to popularise our national culture and, by attracting guests from other countries to the city, to get acquainted with the culture and traditions of different peoples," shared Dmitry Demidov.
The official opening of the republican event "Cultural Capital of Belarus" took place today in Novopolotsk with the participation of the Minister of Culture, Yuri Bondar, who presented the Chairman of the Novopolotsk City Executive Committee with a special certificate and congratulated the residents and guests of the city on this significant event. As a gift from Novopolotsk, the minister and other distinguished guests received souvenirs – lilies made by local craftsmen (the white lily flower is a symbol of Novopolotsk).
