The campaign "We are citizens of Belarus!" starts on March 13

The nationwide campaign "We are Citizens of Belarus!", dedicated to Constitution Day, will start on March 13, the secretary of the Central Committee of the PRYM (Belarusian Republican Youth Union) Alexandra Goncharova told a BELTA correspondent.

The campaign will be held in all regions of Belarus. Traditionally, young people will receive their "tickets to adulthood" from the hands of leaders of the legislative and executive authorities, public figures, and other distinguished and authoritative people of the country. "The central events will start on March 13. On this day, at the Museum of Modern Belarusian Statehood, passports will be presented to 14-year-old teenagers by the Head of the Presidential Administration, Natalya Kochanova. The main heroes of the celebration will symbolically be 25 young people from all regions of the country and Minsk. All of them are excellent students, participants of scientific and practical conferences, winners and prize-winners of republican competitions, festivals, contests, subject Olympiads, and activists of the PRYM and the Belarusian Pioneer Organization. On the same day, the campaign is planned to be held at the Committee for State Control with the participation of its Chairman Leonid Anfimov, on March 14 - at the Constitutional Court with the participation of its Chairman Petr Miklashevich, on March 15 - at the Council of the Republic, where passports will be presented to the young people by the Chairman of the upper house of parliament Mikhail Myasnikovich," said Alexandra Goncharova.

According to her, this time the campaign will have some special features. "March 15 is a special date in the history of our state. On this day, 25 years ago, the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus was adopted. The Basic Law marked the beginning of a new era in the country's chronicle, a reliable foundation for achieving its real sovereignty. For the first time in centuries of history, Belarusians acquired their statehood, becoming an independent and free nation. The Constitution embodies the rich historical experience and wisdom of previous generations, enshrines the legal, political, and ideological characteristics of the state and society, and clearly defines the priorities of national development. In the anniversary year of the Basic Law, 25-year-old young people, who are the same age as the Constitution, will also become participants in the campaign," added the secretary of the PRYM Central Committee.

In Minsk, during the passport awarding campaign, events will be held in each administrative district and at the Minsk City Hall. Directly on Constitution Day, March 15, solemn ceremonies will take place in all regional centers. "In the Brest region, it will be at the Regional Executive Committee; in the Vitebsk region, at the Regional Philharmonic. 20 activists from the Grodno region will receive their passports at the Regional Drama Theatre. In the Gomel region, outstanding students and public figures will gather at the Regional Public and Cultural Center. 28 young people from the Mogilev region, who have distinguished themselves in various fields of activity, will be presented with passports by government officials at the institution 'Palace of Culture of the Region'. A thematic program will be prepared as a gift for the young people. For activists of the Minsk region, the solemn passport awarding ceremony will be held at the National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve 'Nesvizh'," added Alexandra Goncharova.

The nationwide campaign "We are Citizens of Belarus!", ideologically inspired by the BRSM since 2004, is designed to focus attention on such a significant event as obtaining a Belarusian citizen's passport, and to create conditions for giving this event due status and solemnity. It enjoys popularity and support from state authorities and the public, and over the years has managed to unite thousands of young men and women in all regions of the country.
