The "Save the Symbol of the Holiday" campaign will be held from December 21 to 31 in all settlements of Belarus with a population of over 30,000 people, the press service of the Ministry of Forestry informed BELTA.
In anticipation of the winter holidays, forestry enterprises and the Republican Forest Breeding and Seed Centre (RFBSC) will offer Belarusians the opportunity to purchase New Year trees in tubs, pots, or boxes, keep them until spring (for example, on a balcony or at a dacha), and plant them at the nearest forestry unit during the "Forest Week" campaign.
Organizations of the Ministry of Forestry system have already prepared over 2,500 New Year trees in tubs and pots. The assortment includes European spruce and prickly spruce, Scots pine, Western thuja, and Canadian juniper. In addition, forestry enterprises and the RFBSC will give each buyer instructions on how to care for the holiday symbol.
The Ministry of Forestry noted that the demand for New Year trees in tubs is growing annually. If 557 such trees were sold in 2016, then in 2017, the number reached 1,603. This year, forestry institutions also expect an increase in demand.
The first Christmas tree markets in Belarus will open on December 20. The addresses of the points of sale where forestry products will be available will soon be published on the websites of the Ministry of Forestry and forestry institutions.
