This year, the dendrological park received an unusual addition. As part of the annual campaign "Forest Week-2012", employees of the forestry enterprise decided to lay an alley of 65 thuas and name it in honor of the 130th anniversary of the birth of Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas.

The Western thuas for the alley did not fall from the sky. They were prepared for a whole six years. Sprouts grown from seeds were transported from the Kashchinsky nursery to the Slobodskoye forestry nursery. After five years, the saplings were dug up and delivered to the dendrological park.

The deputy director of the forestry enterprise, Alexander Kasyanchik, noted that this year's "Forest Week" begins distinctively with the establishment of the alley. The deputy chairman of the district executive committee, Nikolai Nikitin, expressed gratitude to the forestry workers for naming the alley in honor of the 130th anniversary of the birth of Belarusian classics in the Year of the Book. The deputy chairman of the district executive committee, Alexander Shidlovsky, listed the city outskirts that, a decade or two ago, were cluttered wastelands, but have now turned into picturesque green zones – these are the outskirts of the timber industry enterprise, the electromechanical plant, the villages of Kulyashi, Zabaenye, the Aerodrome tract, and the lakes Glybochitsa, Borovna, and Svyatoye. The dendrological park will become such an oasis in a few years.

After the ceremonial part, no one remained indifferent. Everyone present at the event asked the forestry workers for shovels. Everyone wanted to make a personal contribution to the beneficial event. Understanding the importance of the situation, the foresters gave everyone the opportunity to plant their own thua.

The dendrological park was established 10 years ago. It has over 1200 trees growing in it. There are 39 species in total.

This year, 300 new saplings of rare Belarusian species will be planted in the dendrological park. Unfortunately, it is not possible to replenish the collection with representatives of exotic plantings from other countries.
