– For now, we are living by the inertia of contracts concluded before February 24. But they will soon end. There will be different logistics, different operating schemes. Therefore, we have another month or two to manage to reorganise and do something not only to save the enterprises, but also to make them work efficiently, – the head of the region urged the heads of enterprises and districts. – We need to be creative. Either we perish, or we will live differently and move forward.
Overall, the Vitebsk region has managed to maintain positive trends. Three out of four performance efficiency targets set by the Government have been met: gross regional product (102.8%), total revenue of the consolidated regional budget (119.2%), and average monthly wage (115.4%).
– The region's enterprises are operating normally. Positive dynamics in foreign economic activity have been ensured, and we are growing in services exports. Undoubtedly, sales markets will change, the share of European Union countries is decreasing, and we are increasing supplies to the Russian Federation and CIS countries, – said the Chairperson of the Committee for Economy of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Veronika Zabolueva.
Due to sanctions pressure, there are a number of problems with making payments and purchasing equipment and components. Because of this, a number of large investment projects have been postponed to the second half of the year. And here, Veronika Viktorovna is convinced, there should be cooperation between large enterprises and small and medium-sized businesses. The first step in this direction has been taken. The Belarusian Fund for Financial Support of Entrepreneurs has created a database where both Belarusian and Russian manufacturers can register for free and indicate what they export and import. Thus, enterprises that need certain products can find them in this database.
Veronika Zabolueva sees the main reserve for economic development in the production of import-substituting products and in cooperation:
– Sometimes enterprises that need certain components and parts, which they previously imported, do not know that these components are produced nearby. To simplify these relationships, a database has been created by the entrepreneurship support fund.
To establish economic ties, all opportunities must be used, including economic forums. Such a forum is currently taking place in Orsha, one is planned for Novopolotsk in May, and a Russian-Belarusian economic forum is scheduled for Grodno in June.
