You bear hyper-responsibility for the future fate and prosperity of the region. This opinion was shared today by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin, addressing the people's elected representatives at the first session of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies of the 29th convocation.
The head of the region focused on the noticeable renewal of the deputy corps of the Vitebsk region, which includes representatives of work collectives, trade unions and other public organisations, and political parties:
– The composition has turned out to be quite strong. A very weighty and authoritative team of professionals has been assembled. I am confident that the work of the executive branch of power will be even more effective. Feedback from voters will be established even more closely, and some of the problems that people raise at the local level will be resolved at the initial stage.
Alexander Subbotin reminded all participants of the session of the historically difficult moment in time that Belarus is currently in, and emphasised the role of deputies in the political life of the country:
– We are at a turning point in the destiny of our state and people. It is important to keep the country moving forward dynamically, not to let it slip into any conflicts. We see you as a great support. This is your huge task. We all have a huge and extremely difficult job ahead of us. Not just responsibility, but hyper-responsibility for the fate of our region rests on your shoulders.
Addressing the new Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies, Dmitry Demidov, the head of the region expressed hope for effective joint work:
– I am counting on you. I hope that the legislative and executive branches of power will be able to continue to constructively solve all the tasks set, and I count on fruitful and effective work.
Returning to the recent electoral campaign, Alexander Subbotin separately noted the high quality of work of the election commissions:
– The Unified Voting Day has become a true examination, which you have passed with flying colours. Of course, it was impossible to go through the entire distance without any hitches. The reason for this was the unprecedented workload on all organisers of the electoral process. We have never had to elect such a number of deputies of all levels simultaneously in the history of sovereign Belarus. You are pioneers here. And this examination has been passed by you with honours. The elections were held in a calm and business-like atmosphere. The election commissions demonstrated competence, which allowed all voters to exercise their constitutional right regardless of their place of residence and physical health.
Alexander Subbotin expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to holding the Unified Voting Day at various levels:
– The Unified Voting Day has shown that there are no insurmountable tasks for the Vitebsk region if we approach their solution together. And the slogan "In unity is our strength" is becoming increasingly relevant and powerful.
At the same time, the head of the region emphasised that equally significant political events lie ahead – elections to the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, delegates to the seventh All-Belarusian People's Assembly, and in 2025 – elections of the President of the Republic of Belarus:
– We must conduct the next election campaign impeccably, regardless of any circumstances and obstacles that they may try to impose on us from outside, ignoring provocations, pressure, and what is happening on the perimeter of our country.
The head of the region addressed special words of appreciation to the deputies of the 28th convocation of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies, noting their effective work:
– Many of you have demonstrated the highest level of responsibility and professionalism. I am grateful to you for your constructive work and wish you to continue working for the benefit of our state.
