A festive event dedicated to the upcoming holiday – Culture Worker's Day – was held at the Vitebsk Cultural Centre.
The Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin, drew attention to the value of culture in the region and the work of professionals:
– Your work is heard everywhere. When some event takes place, they constantly say: "Vitebsk has surprised." This is your merit. Vitebsk is rightfully considered the cultural capital. It is rightfully said that culture is the strongest aspect of our region. It is rightfully said that you are the blacksmiths of glory not only for the region and the country, but for the entire Slavic world. Culture is the best and most pleasant force that allows people to connect and understand each other. I thank you for your professional approach, for your work. You are great! And it is thanks to you that Vitebsk is heard all over the world.
The importance of the region as a cultural centre was also emphasized by the President's Aide – Inspector for the Vitebsk Region, Igor Brylo:
– The number of artists, writers, poets, and painters that Vitebsk Region has produced is something everyone can envy. It is gratifying that today you also know how to maintain this high cultural standard.
