To drink or not to drink, how often do you ask yourself this question? Men and alcohol – a sensitive and relevant topic at all times. Meanwhile, the effects of alcohol on men are devastating. The culture of alcohol consumption on holidays, Fridays, weekends, or just for relaxation is highly developed in our country. Alcohol abuse is a common phenomenon in modern Russian society. Statistics are relentless – every second man dies due to alcohol. The harm of alcohol for men is enormous: it takes away health, kills potency, steals life, and destroys families.
Male alcoholism is getting younger year by year; today, the problem of excessive alcohol consumption is akin to a global catastrophe. Only the individual himself can stop the negative impact of alcohol by giving it up once and for all.
Men and Alcohol
A man is strong and brave by nature; all processes in his body run in a special mode. The main male hormone – testosterone – is responsible for this. The sinister friendship between alcohol and a man, once begun, actively suppresses testosterone production, leading to dire and irreversible consequences for his health and appearance.
The hormonal balance changes, and consequently, the male body, his psyche, and mind change. A drinking man gains significant weight, and the fat layer forms in a female pattern: around the buttocks, abdomen, and chest.
The muscular system becomes weak and flabby, and purely female irritability, tearfulness, and imaginary ailments appear. Memory, logic, and intellect are impaired, and life becomes faceless and boring.
Alcohol is a real poison. This simple truth seems foolish and inappropriate to many, especially when it comes to men. The blame lies with modern society, which dictates harsh rules for survival and demands strict adherence to them from everyone. For example, a real man and professional must drink with the boss at a corporate event, otherwise, they will be looked upon unfavourably and their leadership qualities will be doubted. A real man cannot refuse a friend he hasn't seen for a couple of years, otherwise, he will be suspected of disrespect. Finally, a real man cannot go on a date without a bottle of good red wine, otherwise, he will be considered stingy.
Alcohol Steals Testosterone
This is probably something that should be discussed in school anatomy lessons, and repeated
numerous times, so that young men understand and remember: one should not abuse it.
Testosterone and alcohol are incompatible, as they simply do not coexist in the same reaction.
This means one expels the other. More specifically, alcohol suppresses testosterone production.
It is known that in any human body, there are male and female hormones. Normally, in a man's body,
the male hormone testosterone predominates. The female hormone is eliminated by the liver.
However, since the liver, under the influence of alcohol, is unable to function normally,
the production of female sex hormones is not suppressed, and they begin to predominate over male hormones.
Moreover, alcohol is responsible for activating the process of converting male hormones into female ones.
The hormonal balance in such a situation changes significantly. Such a man will not be able to father children,
but a fatty layer will begin to form in the chest, abdomen, thighs, and buttocks according to the female type.
The lack of testosterone affects the skin – it becomes dry, the muscles become flabby, and in addition,
there are bags under the eyes. And the character changes – suspicion and weakness, vulnerability and tearfulness.
Incidentally, beer contains a large amount of phytoestrogens.
A man doesn't need to know this, but if he were to inquire, perhaps he wouldn't drink so much of it.
Because these very phytoestrogens are genuine female sex hormones. So, if you are still a man,
beer can correct this "shortcoming." Hello alcohol – goodbye testosterone.
Alcohol takes away health and shortens life. Alcohol reduces potency.
For courage! This is how men usually perceive alcohol in matters of love.
Initially, alcohol helps a man to become uninhibited and relaxed, to feel on top of things in intimate relationships with a woman.
At times, men think that with alcohol, sexual intercourse becomes longer, of higher quality, and more active.
But all this ends quickly and unpleasantly; the man no longer feels attraction, desire, or personal life.
Intimacy becomes painful and unpleasant, erections weaken, and orgasm does not occur at all.
Alcohol abuse inevitably leads to a decrease in sexual desire, weakening of erections, and serious sexual disorders.
And the sexual potency of drinking men significantly and steadily decreases.
If we look at the situation from a scientific point of view, then constant
use of alcohol as a "love stimulant" contributes to the development of problems in the intimate sphere.
Alcohol negatively affects liver function, which is well known to everyone. With chronic consumption of any type of alcohol, the death of liver cells increases, which initially become saturated with fatty substances (fatty liver disease), then inflammation of the liver tissue occurs (steatohepatitis), and subsequently, part of the liver cells is replaced by "scar" connective tissue, forming liver cirrhosis. In relation to the impact on the sexual sphere, this is unpleasant because the liver affected by cirrhosis alters the metabolism of the male sex hormone (testosterone) in the body. A significant portion of testosterone in men, passing through the liver with blood flow, is converted into the female sex hormone, estradiol. It is for this reason that the redistribution of adipose tissue in the body occurs along the female type, with fat deposition in the buttocks, thighs, and abdomen. Excess adipose tissue itself is a source of the female sex hormone estradiol (it also converts the male sex hormone testosterone into the female one in the "depths" of fat cells). In addition, adipose tissue is a source of "harmful" free fatty acids, which, along with alcohol, damage the liver, intensifying fatty liver disease, and subsequently cirrhosis. In addition, due to the chronic inflammatory process in the liver, the synthesis of various proteins is disrupted, including sex-binding protein, which is necessary for regulating hormone action in organs and tissues. In turn, a large amount of sex-binding globulin produced in the liver causes accelerated male aging, and the development of prostate adenoma and cancer.
Finally, as a result of constant alcohol intake, swelling of various tissues is provoked, including in the prostate gland, triggering the development of "congestive" prostatitis. Metabolic processes in the prostate gland also influence the metabolism of the male sex hormone, testosterone. Chronic congestive prostatitis makes an additional negative contribution to the action of testosterone in peripheral tissues.
The result of a "romance" with a glass is impotence – a diagnosis that sounds like a sentence for every man, regardless of age. All the negative mechanisms listed above have a detrimental effect on the main links and parameters of male health: sexual desire decreases, erection deteriorates, the volume of ejaculate and sperm quality decreases.
Alcohol kills sperm
It is almost unnecessary to mention that systematic alcohol consumption leads to testicular atrophy. The testes shrink, and sperm do not mature. Sperm, as living cells, are inevitably and detrimentally affected by ethanol. Their structure changes, and even if conception occurs, such sperm carry altered, low-quality information. Therefore, children of such fathers are born with certain developmental and health disorders. This can manifest from common allergies to severe deformities and intellectual disabilities.
Ultimately, sperm mutate to such an extent that they lose their heads, tails, and motility. Fertilisation of an egg by such a defective sperm is simply impossible. The outcome is male infertility. However, this is better than having disabled children. It should be noted here that alcohol remains in the reproductive organs for 25 days! Sperm are renewed every 3 months. Therefore, if you want to provide your future child with quality genetic material, conception should be planned no earlier than 4 months after alcohol consumption.
Alcohol ruins family life
The detrimental effect of alcohol on male potency is only half the problem; alcohol inevitably leads to brain degradation. This results in dissatisfaction, aggression, irritability, anger, and affective behaviour, a desire to demean and inflict pain on family and loved ones. All these factors complicate family life, leading to divorces and tragedies.
To drink or not to drink
Debates about whether a moderate amount of low-alcohol beverages is beneficial for maintaining cardiovascular health continue.
There is still no consensus on this issue. Some specialists believe that a small amount of low-alcohol beverage, such as red wine, is beneficial. Others, and they are the majority, argue that even small doses of alcohol are harmful to health, and the theory of alcohol's cardioprotective effect is simply a myth.
Medical professionals are unanimous that large doses of alcohol or strong alcoholic beverages are undoubtedly harmful to health.
The logical question is, is it worth giving up alcohol?
If you have enough willpower to take a radical approach, then do not hesitate. After all, despite the pleasure alcohol brings, it causes much more harm to the body. Complete abstinence from alcoholic beverages will eliminate all negative
factors that can affect men's health. Such a decision will positively affect overall health, which is important if the main goal of maintaining men's health is happy fatherhood.
If a complete refusal is not possible, it is necessary to find the right motivation, goal, or dream. For some, it is a chance to raise a healthy son, for others, an opportunity to conquer a lady's thousandth heart, and for some, it is important to preserve their masculinity for the sake of one and only.
Therefore, one should not be embarrassed if the decision to abstain from alcohol is not understood. As practice shows, a principled stance can often work in one's favour, and not always will the refusal of a morning drink be seen by the boss as betrayal. Sometimes such an approach is valued more than unconditional agreement.
At the same time, the same specialists also claim that not all people are capable of enduring a complete refusal of alcoholic beverages. Such a decision can also become a stress for them, and therefore, again, negatively affect men's health and male hormones. Stress should be avoided, and therefore a strict norm should be observed – no more than 20 g of pure alcohol per day. It is this amount that will allow one not to overdo it and preserve men's health.
After all, life should not be a Spartan ordeal, and therefore sometimes a glass of wine can be a wonderful end to a stressful day and a necessary release. The main thing is not to get carried away and remember that health depends on sobriety of mind and strength of spirit. And alcohol is just one of a thousand pleasant moments, which is all the more beautiful the rarer it is.
