As practice shows, the temptation to get behind the wheel increases for some unscrupulous drivers during the holidays, as evidenced by statistical data on apprehended drunk drivers.
Thus, in January-November 2020, the traffic police units of the region suppressed 2,427 instances of driving vehicles by persons in a state of intoxication, of which 99 were committed repeatedly within a year after the imposition of an administrative penalty.
Taking into account the foregoing, and also in anticipation of the Christmas and New Year holidays, in order to strengthen the discipline of road users, prevent road traffic accidents, identify drivers operating vehicles while intoxicated, suppress gross violations of the Traffic Regulations, preserve human life and health, normalize the road traffic situation, and organize effective work to ensure road safety, the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Vitebsk region, from December 25, 2020, to January 11, 2021, is carrying out a set of measures aimed at preventing and suppressing instances of driving vehicles by persons in a state of intoxication.
