On July 5, Minsk / BELTA correspondent /. Belarus has no geopolitical ambitions, but it must defend its national interests and strengthen the military security of the state. This was stated by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko today at a reception for graduates of military educational institutions of Belarus and Russia, BELTA correspondent reports.
"This is why a modern army exists in Belarus," the President emphasized.
Alexander Lukashenko noted that the annual receptions for graduates of higher military educational institutions of Belarus and Russia have become a good tradition. They are held at the beginning of July, when the Belarusian people celebrate Independence Day. "On these days, we remember the feat of soldiers and officers of the fraternal peoples of the Soviet Union during the Great Patriotic War. It was they who fought shoulder to shoulder and defended the freedom, well-being, and peaceful sky above our heads," the head of state noted.
According to him, the values bequeathed by the generation of victors are more relevant today than ever. "After all, even by the second decade of the 21st century, humanity has not been able to develop reliable mechanisms for ensuring security in the world," Alexander Lukashenko noted. "The politicians of world superpowers still prefer to speak with states that are not subject to their influence in the language of force. The events in Iraq, Egypt, and Libya, and the situation around Iran and Syria are eloquent evidence of this."
The President focused on the importance of strengthening Belarus's military security. He stressed: "We have managed to ensure a high moral spirit and professionalism of the personnel of the Belarusian army." Addressing the graduates of military universities, the President said: "From tomorrow, you will take responsibility for the state and development of the Armed Forces, other troops, and military formations. You will have to solve the tasks of maintaining the combat readiness and equipment of the troops on a daily basis. However, the priority direction of work should be the strengthening of the sense of patriotism of military personnel. For this, each of you has all the necessary qualities, service experience, and the best modern education." -0-
