25 February, Minsk /BELTA correspondent/. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko does not intend to excessively patronise the government in the new five-year period. He stated this today at a meeting with the new government and newly appointed officials, as reported by a BELTA correspondent. "I am not going to, as it was before, in the past five-year period, excessively patronise the government, its economic bloc, or the security bloc. Everyone knows the tasks ahead. If you need my help, please ask. If you don't, act, work. Work all together. You are people of ideologically the same direction, who know what needs to be done and understand what is happening in the world," the President addressed the meeting participants. He also noted that the new government of Belarus was formed mainly by the end of last year. This was done so that it could start working as early as possible, and from 1 January 2011, begin implementing the programme adopted at the All-Belarusian People's Congress. "There were a few people left who were recently reappointed. I will tell you frankly, I had some reservations about these candidates, not because they were not working hard or were working poorly. It's just that these people were less visible," said Alexander Lukashenko. "But I think these people have potential and can work quite successfully." The President explained that this meeting is being held two months after the appointments also so that the Prime Minister, the new Deputy Prime Ministers, who have been set fundamental tasks, can look around, study the work of the subordinate ministries, and establish contact with the governors.
