Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko noted the significant role of domestic machine building and science in the development of the agricultural sector. He emphasized this while speaking today at the republican festival-fair of agricultural workers "Dazhynki-2011", according to a BELTA correspondent. According to him, many sectors of the state economy contribute to the national harvest. "We can rightly be proud that domestic machine building has provided the village with modern equipment - harvesters, tractors, and other units. The main thing is that we do all this ourselves," the head of state noted. He also said that chemists, transport workers, service sector workers, educators, and military personnel worked well for the harvest. According to him, the active role of our science in the development of the agricultural sector cannot be overlooked. The main sown areas are occupied by varieties of Belarusian selection. A significant leap has been made in the development of modern agricultural technologies in both crop production and animal husbandry. Alexander Lukashenko believes that our scientists are capable of creating domestic durum wheat varieties, especially since there are already certain developments. Then we will be able to completely abandon the import of durum wheat varieties. -0-
