29 August, Minsk /Tatsiana Poliazhai - BELTA/. The teaching community of Belarus needs a shake-up. This was stated today at a meeting of the teaching staff by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
"It is intolerable how our school as a whole is developing. We are witnessing not isolated, but in many cases widespread violations of elementary order, lack of control, and visible prospects," said the head of state. According to him, a recently conducted monitoring of the activities of educational institutions showed that "a teacher comes to school as if to a factory: they work their hours and go home." "The school cannot develop like this. This is not the right direction for the school's development," the President emphasized.
In the opinion of the head of state, most of the problems have been accumulating for years due to the passivity and indifference of certain managers and educators. Alexander Lukashenko stressed that this cannot continue. "In our circle, frankly speaking, the need to shake up the entire teaching community of the country has become apparent," he said.
The President called on educators for an open conversation. "Let's frankly answer all the questions, determine why this is happening, and immediately rectify the situation, preserve the high level and authority of our education, which has been established today and is recognized worldwide," said the head of state.
At the same time, Alexander Lukashenko believes that educators form the basis of public life. "Without our teachers, there would be no normal policy in our state. You are truly the foundation of our state's policy. All political campaigns, all areas of activity in the country, in one way or another, rely on you. Just as you were in Soviet times, you remain the main conduits of the ideas of normal development of our state and the basis, if you will, of stability," said Alexander Lukashenko.-0-
