August 5, Minsk /BELTA correspondent/. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has set the task to make all enterprises in the Grodno region profitable by the end of the current quarter. He gave this instruction today during a working meeting with the Chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee, Semen Shapiro, BELTA was informed by the press service of the Belarusian leader.
Particular attention was paid at the meeting to the issue of unprofitable enterprises, the number of which in the Grodno region has halved in the last two months. The President drew attention to the need to intensify efforts to increase the profitability of enterprises and raise wages.
Alexander Lukashenko gave Semen Shapiro a number of other instructions concerning the construction of livestock premises in rural areas, the financing of unfinished construction projects, and other areas of the region's life.
The Governor of the Grodno region also reported on the first million tons of grain threshed in the region. The head of state expressed concern that this region is lagging behind others in harvesting progress. According to Semen Shapiro, the volume of grain to be harvested in the Grodno region this year will be no lower than last year's level. "We will put one and a half million tons of grain into the barn," believes the chairman of the regional executive committee. -0-
