9 July, Vitebsk /Tatyana Polezhay - BELTA/. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko is visiting the production unitary enterprise "Vitebsk Biopharma", a BELTA correspondent reports.
The Head of State will be informed about the measures being taken to supply the republic's livestock industry with domestic veterinary medicines. Alexander Lukashenko will familiarise himself with the organisation and economics of modern veterinary drug production at UP "Vitebsk Biopharma" and their supply to domestic and foreign markets, as well as with modern equipment and the technological process of veterinary drug production.
It is expected that the President will be presented with proposals from the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee on the construction, reconstruction and repair of facilities in Vitebsk and amendments to the city's master plan.
Vitebsk Biopharma is the only enterprise in the republic's biological industry that manufactures medicinal sera and bacterial vaccines for the needs of livestock farming. From 1995 to 2010, the production of over 60 types of veterinary drugs was mastered. The products manufactured by the biopharma are intended for the detection, prevention and successful treatment of the most common bacterial and viral infections in livestock farming. In 2005, the reconstruction of the biopharma began with the aim of creating proper sanitary and hygienic conditions, reorganising technological processes to a modern level, and also more fully meeting the republic's livestock industry needs for biological preparations. To complete the reconstruction, technological re-equipment, site improvement, and the development of new types of products (viral drugs), additional funding of Br4.5 billion is required from the republican budget. -0-
