When appointing Alexander Konyuk, the Head of State noted: "Firstly, the situation in the prosecutor's office must be fundamentally resolved, primarily the personnel situation. As a military man, you know many people through your service who could be involved in working in the Prosecutor General's Office and prosecutor's bodies, in order, first of all, to establish order there and turn the prosecutor's office towards solving the problems that need to be solved today." Secondly, the President focused the attention of the new Prosecutor General on the tasks facing the prosecutor's office in light of the creation of the Investigative Committee. "The prosecutor's office cannot stand aside. This work cannot be carried out at all without the Prosecutor General. We need a responsible, strong organizer who, if not leads this work as a whole, will be at the epicenter of all actions. You must clearly know not only what the Investigative Committee will be doing, but also build it up to the organizational structure, personnel selection. Because you will have to work in close contact with the Investigative Committee," said Alexander Lukashenko. "Yes, it will be directly subordinate to the President, but be prepared for the fact that very significant functions and powers will be vested in the Prosecutor General in this regard. Moreover, I repeat once again, in the initial stages, we expect the Prosecutor General and prosecutors in general to make significant efforts in forming the Investigative Committee," the Head of State emphasized. Speaking about Grigory Vasilievich, who has been relieved of his duties as Prosecutor General, Alexander Lukashenko noted: "He is moving to another job, he has many opportunities in this regard. He is not an outsider, and I want to say this directly, so that no one thinks that Grigory Vasilievich was bad for the President. No, he is our person, a person devoted to our state. Therefore, we will use him either in scientific work, if he wishes (he works a lot in this direction), or in teaching, or in both, or in some state service. He himself must decide, and we will determine where he will work. He has a great deal of experience and great knowledge as a lawyer. I value this very much, and, of course, he will not fall out of the "inner circle"." "I think you should use the experience that Grigory Vasilievich has accumulated in his work as a lawyer and in the prosecutor's office, including. He is a sensible person. Perhaps in the middle of the fourth quarter of this year, when you get into the swing of things, we will hold a meeting with prosecutors.
