February 23, Minsk / Alina Grishkevich - BELTA/. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko considers any encroachments on Belarus's sovereignty unpromising. He stated this on February 23, speaking at a reception for the senior staff of the Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies. This traditional event, dedicated to the Defender of the Fatherland and Armed Forces Day of Belarus, was held with the participation of the country's top officials, BELTA was informed by the press service of the Head of State. According to the President, this holiday is one of the most revered for the Belarusian people. After all, the vast majority of the country's male population has gone through the school of the army, knows weapons and tactics not from computer games and action movies. Many have participated in wars and local conflicts. "And our soldier has always been a warrior-defender, a warrior-liberator, setting an example of valor, resilience, and courage," emphasized the Head of State. He noted that Belarusian troops participate, fortunately, only in training wars, but this does not mean that the army is, as they say, a "parade ground" army. On the contrary, it is the professionalism of the Belarusian military that is the main factor in strategically deterring foreign aggression. The results of the military events held in 2011, including the joint exercise of the Armed Forces of Belarus and Russia "Shield of the Union," the readiness check of rapid response forces and territorial defense, demonstrate the capability and readiness of the Belarusian army and other security forces to effectively perform the tasks assigned to them. Thus, according to the Head of State, the chosen path of ensuring security has been confirmed. "The high level of patriotism of Belarusian citizens is the core of our Fatherland's defense capability," believes the President. However, the modern world constantly presents new challenges and threats. In the President's opinion, information and psychological forms of expansion, combined with a military component, still dominate the arsenal of means for resolving interstate contradictions. Under a plausible pretext, more and more countries are becoming objects of open aggression.
