February 7, Minsk /BELTA/. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko demands accelerated pace of production modernization in all sectors of the Presidential Affairs Directorate. The Head of State stated this today at a meeting on improving the efficiency of the Presidential Affairs Directorate and its subordinate organizations, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
"We demand accelerated pace of production modernization from all sectors. Time dictates this - both the global market and the country's economy," Alexander Lukashenko emphasized. "In your structure's enterprises, the process, by and large, has not even begun. Today, you cannot demonstrate either the latest technologies or the latest scientific achievements implemented in production."
The President believes that the implementation of modernization and production development plans should not only aim at reaching a new technological level but also contribute to a sharp increase in wages and employee incomes. In Alexander Lukashenko's opinion, this is the most important social task of modernization. This applies primarily to art craft factories, forestry and agricultural enterprises that are part of the Directorate's structure.
The President paid special attention to the construction and major repair of facilities: "There is a whole trail of shortcomings here. There are violations of commissioning deadlines, deviations from design and estimate documentation, leading to increased construction costs and deterioration of quality parameters. Often, funds allocated for construction are spent uneconomically. I'm not even talking about the quality." -0-
