12 April, Mozyr District /Tatyana Polezhay - BELTA/. The process of creating agro-towns in Belarus must be completed within this five-year period. This task was set today by the President of the country, Alexander Lukashenko, during a working trip to the Gomel region, according to a BELTA correspondent.
"Could we have ever imagined that our districts, Mozyr and all others, would be transformed so much," noted the head of state.
"It is important not to stop now. Each agro-town should add something every year, starting from roads and housing construction. The farms themselves must get moving now," emphasized the President.
Alexander Lukashenko believes that the development of agro-towns should continue, but no longer at the expense of republican funds. "Under no circumstances should we stagnate at this level. It often happens that we start another problem and forget about the previous one," said the President.
As an exemplary case, Alexander Lukashenko cited the agro-town of Rudnya in the Mozyr District, which he visited today. Since the transformation of the village of Rudnya into an agro-town in 2008, noticeable improvements in social and living conditions have occurred here. A large volume of work has been done to improve the territory, the stadium has been reconstructed, a tennis court has been built, and major repairs have been carried out at the kindergarten, school, outpatient clinic, rural House of Culture, pharmacy, and post office. Work is underway to improve the lake. In 2007-2011, 27 private residential houses were built and occupied in Rudnya.
"We need to bring all agro-towns up to the level of Rudnya. There is everything necessary for life here. From this school, everyone goes on to technical universities and agriculture. One can only dream of this," said the head of state.
"We must settle these issues within this five-year period so that in the future we will no longer be talking about the construction, transformation, and reconstruction of agro-towns. We must complete this process within this five-year period," emphasized the President.-0-
