The Head of State Alexander Lukashenko has submitted to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus a bill on the ratification of the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Commission, signed on November 18 in Moscow by the Presidents of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan. This was reported to BelTA correspondent by the press service of the Belarusian leader. The Eurasian Economic Commission is being established to ensure the functioning and development of the Customs Union and the Single Economic Space. This commission will be the successor to the Commission of the Customs Union. It will carry out its activities based on the principles of ensuring mutual benefit, equality and consideration of the national interests of the parties, economic feasibility of decisions, openness, transparency and objectivity. In connection with the expansion and complication of the commission's functions, the treaty provides for the creation of a two-tier body consisting of the Commission's Council and the Commission's Board, whose functions and powers are delineated. In general, the necessary conditions are being created to ensure that Belarus's interests are taken into account in the decision-making process, as the possibility is provided for bringing sensitive issues to a higher level, up to the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council at the level of heads of state, where decisions are made by consensus.-0-
